One of the first projects we undertook for Volvo was a national re-imaging program. We developed Volvo’s colour palette to match its premium positioning in the local market. Our tasks were to create a new trading format and implementation modules, point-of-sale and sales support materials, and to rationalise all Volvo dealers’ stationery systems. Widely applied, our new look has become Volvo’s implementation standard for all its sites.
A key issue was convincing the franchise network of the potential gain from this new investment. To illustrate this, we chose a flagship site which was some way short of the top rung in sales returns. Since Volvo’s Hawthorn showroom was equipped with our new palette, planning principles and design elements, it has been trading as Volvo’s top Australian showroom. The introduction of a lighting system using reflected light markedly improved the presentation of cars. Volvo’s chief designer, Peter Hawbury says the system provides the best presentation of his work he has ever seen.
"Landini Associates takes time to understand the business and customer objectives of an organisation. The resulting design solutions significantly enhance the customer experience, creating an environment where the customer feels more comfortable about making a purchasing decision. Landini looked at every aspect of the customer experience, from the buildling exterior and signage, through interior finishes and specific customer oriented spaces, to sales material and business stationery. This created a unique identity, which consistently demonstrates the values Volvo wishes to communicate to its customers." – Fiona Pearman, Brand Manager, Volvo Australia
